Strange bug in Word and Excel (and how to fix it!)

I experienced a strange bug today on one of my laptops.

Word and Excel were giving error messages that are found at some places on the Net but I had to click on many links to discover the one working for me.

Word was saying this error: "Word could not create the work file. Check the temp environment variable." and was preventing me from saving any document.

Excel was showing a different error: "Microsoft Excel cannot open or save any more documents because there is not enough available memory or disk space.".

To fix the issue, you need to edit the registry and make sure that the value of "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders" is really set to: %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\INetCache

I found this tip on https://bwit.blog/fix-word-could-not-create-work-file/
