I haven't used Visual Studio for the last few days and this morning without any particular reason (other than Windows Updates!), it keeps crashing on me in a very simple project.

The event viewer is showing that the faulting module is PenlMC2_v0400.dll. Notice that even if the exception is showing WPF, I am building (yet again) a simple Windows Forms project. It is probably Visual Studio itself (which is a WPF application) that has the issue.

It appears that this exception is not new and comes back every so often. I have been able to fix my issue (so far) using the option B from the solution explained on https://developercommunity.visualstudio.com/content/problem/55303/visual-studio-may-terminate-unexpectedly-when-runn.html.
