I have an old HP Touchsmart tx2 tablet PC at home. I wanted to try the new Windows 8 Developer Edition on it to see how well the interface is. I was able to install it almost perfectly. I only had 2 devices that were not recognized natively. One of the 2 was the touch feature which was really bad because the nicest feature of Windows 8 is the touch feature.
I started looking around and tried many things until I found this page: http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-ZA/windowsdeveloperpreviewgeneral/thread/a0676486-6b90-4efc-a8e7-634054620a88
I did what they suggest and I am now a happy Windows 8 “tester” (at least when I can get it because my oldest daughter occupies it more than I do!).
For the records, if you have an even older HP TX1000 (like I also do), forget the touch with your fingers. This device is limited to the pen only.
