This news (good and bad at the same time) was published in July but which very few people caught (I caught it myself only during the weekend from http://coolthingoftheday.blogspot.com/2010/09/visual-studio-setup-deployment-projects.html).

The bad news: the “Visual Studio Setup and deployment Projects” feature of Visual Studio 2010 (and previous versions) will be retired in the future version of Visual Studio.
