Now that the DevTeach/SQLTeach is over, it is the time to review things I learned there.
For me it all started Monday, December 1st at night with our friends Fabrice Maguerie and Frédéric Shäfer from Paris created a WPF application using the Entity Framework and LINQ live in front of us. I know there were some pre-conference sessions all day-long but we something have to go to work!
It started for real on Tuesday morning. I got to the hotel about an hour before it started to be sure to met people from all over North America (and even from Europe) that I have met in previous conference. The keynote for this conference (all conferences starts with a keynote) was held by Ted Neward about his vision for the next 5 years (it should be good for us).
After that, and over 3 days, I have assisted to 19 sessions on various subjects ranging from WPF to SQL. Oh and I gave one too on Wednesday afternoon. It was really great.
On Wednesday night, we had the DevTeach party organized by the “Communauté .Net Montréal” (the local user group) for which I was in charge of finding sponsors (which I would like to thank here again: Aspose, Infragistics, Telerik, DevTeach, MSDN Canada, MITPro, and the user group itself). We all had a great moment there having a chance to chat with a lot of attendees and speakers while having a (free) beer and playing pool.
On Friday, I assisted a post-conference session, a full day on the Entity Framework with Julie Lerman which is currently one of the most knowledgeable on that topic on earth. She had to dig so deep for her upcoming book that she knows everything about EF.
Beside the technical side of the DevTeach that is fabulous, it is a great place for networking and making some good friends. Long live to DevTeach/SQLTeach. Congratulations to Jean-René and Maryse who are the hosts of this event.
You really need to attend to THIS conference in the future. The next one will be in Vancouver, June 8 to 12, 2008. Will you be there?
